Do I Need a Website If I Already Have a Facebook Page?
Plenty of local businesses run entirely off a Facebook or Instagram page, and it works, up to a point. But if you've ever wondered whether you still need an actual website, the short answer is yes, and here's the plain reasoning.
You don't own your social page
Your Facebook page lives on Facebook's terms. The algorithm decides who sees your posts, the rules can change overnight, and accounts do get restricted or locked with no warning and no one to call. A website is yours. Nobody can throttle it, and nobody can take it away.
People still check for a website
When someone's deciding whether to trust you with their money, a real website signals that you're an established, serious business. A page with a phone number and a few posts doesn't carry the same weight, fair or not.
Google is where people search
This is the big one. When someone searches "electrician near me" or "web designer in Tacoma," Google mostly shows websites and Google Business Profiles, not Facebook pages. Without a site, you're invisible for exactly the searches that bring in new customers who don't already follow you.
A website converts better
A social page is built for scrolling. A website is built to turn a visitor into a phone call or a quote request, with click-to-call buttons, a simple form, and your services laid out clearly. That's a different job, and it's the one that actually brings in work.
Use both, they're a team
This isn't website versus Facebook. Your site is home base, where people learn about you, trust you, and reach out. Social media is the reach, how you stay in front of people and point them back to your site. Businesses that do well online use both, each for what it's good at.
If you've outgrown running everything off a social page, that's usually a good sign for your business. When you're ready for a site that does the parts Facebook can't, I'm happy to help.
